Product Highlights
Truncated airfoil tube shapes decrease drag markedly without adding weight or sacrificing stiffness.
Clearance for big volume tyres grants increased traction and comfort over rough terrain.
Manipulated frame and fork tube shapes afford increased compliance and comfort over rough roads.
An offset design increases mud clearance, all whilst keeping the chainstays short and nimble.
Cannondale SuperSix EVO SE Disc Gravel Bike 2023
A gravel racer par excellence, Cannondale’s SuperSix EVO SE Disc Gravel Bike draws on both the SuperSix road bike and the SuperX CX bike, combining low weight, aerodynamics and off-road prowess.
The carbon frame and fork utilise aerodynamic tubing to help lower the bike’s drag, a saving that will add up over long rides and races resulting in more speed for less effort. The Ai offset design allows tyres up to 45mm wide on 700c wheels and the shorter chainstays give snappier accelerations, whilst the OutFront geometry gives high-speed stability and control on technical sections. Quicker wheel changes and puncture repairs are facilitated by the SpeedRelease thru-axles, as the spindle doesn’t need removing entirely from the hub to take out the wheel.
SRAM’s latest wireless groupset, Rival eTap AXS, is a great match for the frame, with the intuitive shifting making changing gear as simple as it could be. The large paddles are easy to operate on rough terrain, with cold hands or when wearing gloves and the powered shifts are crisp and accurate even under maximum watts. Two chainrings and a 10-36t cassette give a very wide range of gears that will work on hilly or flat routes. A smartphone app can be connected to the Bluetooth drivetrain and can be used to customise certain shift functions as well as pairing with a bike computer for gear and battery information on the go.
Elsewhere, the DT Swiss CR-1600 SPLINE wheels and 40c Vittoria Terreno Dry TNT tyres can be run with or without tubes for versatility and the carbon HollowGram 27 SL KNØT seatpost will help iron out minor vibrations.
