The tube is 0.8mm thick, so is lighter than other tubes, but this does not affect the reliability. Instead it enhances the strength of the tube.

Lightweight, durable and affordable. The Specialized Presta Valve Inner Tube 650 x 20/28mm 48mm Valve offers outstanding performance and reliability thanks to Specialized's 'mould cured' method of production. This production method allows Specialized to manufacture their tubes to a thickness of only 0.8mm, whereas most of the competition are 0.9mm thick, a thinner tube is a lighter tube. This reduction in thickness does not affect reliability. Specialized's curing process allows for a more even cure and reduction in granularity of the butyl rubber, ultimately leading to a stronger tube.
