Perhaps the most influential road cyclist in modern times, Greg Lemond joins presenter and former national champion Matt Stephens for the latest episode of the Sigma Sports Café Ride.

Greg sat down with Matt at the cafe to talk about how he came back from a potentially career debilitating gun shot injury to claim two further Tour de France titles. He also speaks to Matt about how he was at the forefront of tech when it came to aerodynamics and style. The American met Matt in the beautiful Champagne region where the pair set off on a short training ride, taking in some of the best views the area had to offer.

Stopping for some much needed sustenance at the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa, Matt took the opportunity to look at some of the bikes Greg raced on in the late 80s and 90s, as well as the Oakley sunglasses that Lemond wore and ultimately elevated the brand within the sport. Rolling out from the hotel back down into the town of Epernay, Greg and Matt brought their ride to a close on a makeshift podium in the town centre and signed off with a customary spraying of bubbly.

The Bike

A guest who has played a huge part in shaping the sport of cycling needed a bike that makes an equally big statement and that is where Bianchi and their Oltre came in. As well as Greg riding the top of the range Oltre Pro Dura-Ace Di2 Disc Road Bike, Matt did too, with both opting for the stealth like matt graphite and gloss black colourway.
