On Running Cloudstratus Running Shoes
A Closer Look
We are big fans of the latest innovations when it comes to running shoes, so when On Running released the new Cloudstratus Running Shoes we couldn't wait to get our hands on a pair.
In this article, we explore the updates made to see how the Cloudstratus really can transform your runs.
Aesthetics
Retaining the double Cloud layer of its predecessor, the Cloudstratus offers a unique look as well as an incredibly comfortable ride. The previous lace system, which brought a greater surface area, has been replaced with a new draw system that laces tighter but holds from lower down, increasing comfort and reducing complicated lacing of the shoe. The mesh has been re-engineered for improved breathability and moisture-wicking, while the heel cup uses more material to allow for a better hold and increased comfort.
Re-Engineered Midsole
Alongside a double Cloudtec layer lies a completely re-engineered midsole, allowing the speedboard and layers to work in harmony and improve the quality of your run. The shoe features an 8mm heel to toe drop which allows the foot to roll naturally with minimal impact. Weighing in at 305 grams per shoe in a UK8, the Cloudstratus sits at the heavier end of the On Running range, but this is a more than worthwhile trade-off for the comfort delivered.
Improved Cushioning
On Running makes use of patented Helion Superfoam to ensure that every step you take delivers the best propulsion. This, accompanied by the double Cloudtec layer, helps provide the ultimate level of cushioning from mile to marathon distance. There is no doubt that on those longer runs you will feel the benefit of this feature and will be able to keep going for longer.
Sustainable Engineering
On Running is industry-leading when it comes to running shoe sustainability; recycled materials are used wherever possible across the range, without compromising performance. The Cloudstratus is made from 75% recycled polyester so you can rest assured that you are doing your bit to help the environment.
Enhanced Fit
The wider forefoot and improved heel hold mean a customised fit and feel, and may suit those who lean towards a wider fitting shoe. On Running has also accompanied their star lacing system with an inner sock to wrap the foot, ensuring a great hold and an extremely comfortable fit.
We hope this closer look has given you a greater understanding of the improved Cloudstratus Running Shoes. We were all blown away at the comfort of the previous iteration but we are even more excited to put these through their paces in the coming weeks.
