Festka Scalatore Brillibrilliant Road Bike
Five Bikes of 2018
A showstopper in more than one sense of the word. For the 2018 Rouleur Classic we were looking for a bike for our Knight Composites stand that would convey the true atmosphere of the show. We needed a bike that oozed sophistication, was ultra-exclusive and would catch the eye of passers-by. Festka and the team at BrilliBrillant heard our call and pulled out all the stops sending a one of a kind Scalatore over from the Czech Republic. It really is no wonder the Festka Scalatore BrilliBrillant Road Bike has made our five bikes of 2018 list.
From the Czech Republic with an Austrian twist. Festka are experts when it comes to working with carbon, steel and titanium, creating custom bikes to exacting specifications. The options are endless when it comes to personalising your bike, with a wide range of colours and designs available. This is where BrilliBrilliant comes in. A brand based in Vienna with strong links to the fashion industry the collective's aim is to reach out and inspire all those who have not discovered that cycling can be a meditative activity and as such a tool for self-discovery.
Working alongside the forward-thinking brand, Festka has designed a Scalatore that uses a mixture of bold colours and intrinsic detailing to make a visually beautiful machine that brings together the two nations. Unboxed and prepped for the Rouleur Classic in the Sigma Sports workshop by mechanic, Eoin, brakes were adjusted, the handlebar was attached and the final touches were made before it headed across to be displayed in front of the public.
No expense has been spared with this build, with a full Campagnolo Super Record Groupset adorning the carbon frame. Finishing kit was taken care of with the help of ENVE. A premium component manufacturer, ENVE's seat post, stem and handlebar are all lightweight, stiff and reliable choices. Keeping things rubber-side down Hutchinson's tyres are paired perfectly with the Knight Composites 35 TLA Wheelset.
BrilliBrilliant/Unicorn - As collaborators go the guys from Austria are not afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to design. Unicorns references disco and a carefree attitude when it comes to cycling, this bike is a refreshing addition to the Festka stable.
Bringing together some of the leading industry boffins, Knight Composites have set out to make the fastest cycling wheels in the world, using high-quality carbon fibre and a wind tunnel optimised designs. Showcasing Knight's latest TLA range, the 35 is the brand's shallowest wheel, with the 65 and 95, each referring to the depth of rim in millimetres. Weighing just 1315 grams a wheelset and offering tubeless tyre compatibility, this wheelset is a fine addition to the high-quality frameset.
