Capo Padrone Hi Vis Bib Short AW14
New to the Capo Padrone range is the Capo Padrone Hi Vis Bib Short featuring reflective fabric technology, which provides the same technical attributes and sleek styling as the original Padrone series, but pushes safety to the surface with strategically-placed panels that illuminate when light hits their surfaces.
Capo have used the successful technology from Padrone Jersey to develop the new HiVis Bib Shorts. The centre and inside panels of the shorts are made of HG Lycra® a highly compressive spandex that is very abrasion resistant. The HG has also been treated with Coldblack® as part of the dyeing process. This is a treatment that won't wash out. The magic of Coldblack® is that it is able to dissipate heat better than other stretch fabrics by reflecting the sun's rays off the Lycra rather than absorbing it, which means you'll feel cooler as your body heats up.
The side panels are Carbon Lycra®, a compressive Power Lycra featuring carbon threads for anti-bacterial properties. Additionally, panels of Super Black® were utilized, which is a wind- and water-resistant membrane with crushed crystals that reflect light when it hits the surface. This panelling is what gives the new Padrone bibs their high level of visibility.
The leg bands, which replace grippers, are made of Capo's Dual-Ply Power V material, with Power Lycra on the outside and V-Mesh on the inside. The Power part adds compression and the mesh gives you wicking potential. The bib straps have also been improved. They've bonded their traditional V-Mesh bib fabric with 190g Lycra for better-controlled vertical stretch.
Similar to the standard Padrones, the fit of the Capo Padrone HiVis Bib Shorts have been refined from their super corsa panelling design. There are ten panels in the shorts rather than eight, with flat lock seams holding them all together. The seams running down the front of the legs have an even greater curve than you're used to seeing. The reason for this is that the curved panels here are designed to reduce the potential for gapping and bunching of fabric to nearly zero. They've also split the side panels in two to create a better fit than ever before.
For the chamois, Capo went with the proven Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Anatomic-4G Carbon insert. This chamois uses a variable density throughout to support the regions that need the most support, without impacting the ones that don't. With its anatomic design, the 4G creates an abrasion-free support that promotes increased circulation. The chamois also works to dissipate any heat and the insert is road-specific.
