What goes into a light weight and stiff design?

The R-Series showcase Cervélo’s second generation Squoval™ tube shapes, optimized 1 3/8” tapered steerer, SmartWall™, and BBright™ technologies—all designed to enhance stiffness where it matters for better handling and power transmission and to reduce excess weight at the same time, for optimum lightness and comfort.

KEY TECHNOLOGIES

BBright - BBright optimizes system stiffness and weight while allowing for the largest range of crank compatibility in a modern press fit system. Optimized Tapered Head Tube - Larger lower head tube dimensions offer an improvement in stiffness and handling. However, it is not as simple as 'bigger is always better'. Ultra Thin Seat Stays - Shapes and materials can add stiffness where it counts. They can also be designed to take stiffness away from where you don't want it. Squoval - Setting new standards meant re-imagining traditional shapes. By redesigning tube shapes, we make huge advances in frame performance.
