What goes into aero design?

The S5’s sleek design borrows much from the P-Series, including the extended seat tube cutout. From the dropped down tube to the shielding seat stays, all frame shapes are designed to smooth airflow over the entire bike and rider. Even the bottle cage location has been rethought to make it the fastest frame with one bottle or two. Add BBright™ technology and you get the best of aero engineering with maximum control and stability.

KEY TECHNOLOGIES

• Shielding Seat Stays - Hiding the rear brake from the wind, not from the rider. Properly formed seat stays hide the brake and improve air flow over the caliper.
• Built for Bottles - Drinking is something that every rider needs to do. By taking this need into account during design, the overall result is a faster ride.
• Dropped Downtube - Positioning the down tube perfectly saves drag on the system by taking into account the interaction between the front wheel and the frame.
• BBright - BBright optimizes system stiffness and weight while allowing for the largest range of crank compatibility in a modern press fit system.
• Extended Seat Tube Cutout - Maximized extended cutout that smoothes airflow from frame to wheel, yeilding one of the largest single reductions in aerodynamic drag.
