It's taken a lot longer than it should but finally bike component manufacturers are starting to make their products work in sympathy with the human form. Sure it might seem obvious now, but handlebar design has for many years been more about what looks right than feels right. FSA were one of, if not the first, to offer this style of bar and single handedly revolutionise handlebar design. A simple re-evaluation of ergonomics was needed to get us to wake up to the fact that most of the designs that preceded it were ultimately flawed! The "Compact style" bar with its shallow-drop and reduced forward-reach is now commonplace but this beautifully sculpted offering in the form of the new SL-K compact is perhaps one of the best examples on the market. High modulus carbon fibre provides strength together with vibration absorption whilst keeping weight to an absolute minimum. A subtle wing profile can be found "on the tops" which reduces pressure and increases comfort.
