Garmin Varia Radar RTL510 Rear Light and Head Unit
The Garmin Varia Radar RTL510 Rear Light Bundle includes the Garmin Radar Display Unit, so you can be even more aware of your surroundings. The rear-view radar detects traffic approaching from up to 140 metres behind and adjusts its flashing frequency to alert the driver of your position. Meanwhile, via the display unit, you are alerted to the approaching vehicle and can choose to react if necessary. The light itself can flash as bright as 65 lumens, making it visible up to 1.6km away in daylight and at angles up to 220°.
The Varia Radar RTL510's rear radar function uses ANT+ technology to communicate with the Radar Display Unit to provide rider feedback about traffic approaching from behind. Furthermore, the light will intensify its flashing intensity when it detects a vehicle approaching quickly, providing a better warning to the driver behind.
The Garmin mounting kit included allows the light to be fitted neatly to the seat posts on most road-use bicycles, including racing, touring and commuter styles. The head unit is easily attached to the handlebars. Both use Garmin's accessible quarter-turn system, so the technology can be easily added to and removed from your bike in seconds.
Both units have rechargeable batteries, and the light can last up to 15 hours in flashing mode, or up to 6 hours when used as a solid rear light.
