The hard layering refers to the chemically anodized UB Control machined brake track. This micro hardness layer is more durable than conventional tracks, slows down brake pad wear and improves braking performance.

A welded seam improves durability and the specially developed Mavic Maxtal alloy, used in the rims construction is lightweight, stiff and strong.
