Sitting beautifully between the CLX 64 and CLX 32, the Roval CLX 50 Tubeless Ready Clincher Rear Wheel is a sublime combination of aerodynamically optimised, deep-section rims and nimble, agile and above all, stable shallow section rims. How does Roval do this? By using the same weight-saving techniques found in the 32’s and the aero guidance of the 64’s, of course.

Without sacrificing any strength or explosive rigidity, this rear-wheel sits in at an utterly incredible 768g. It uses the highest quality of carbon fibre to implement a wheel that feels at home on harsh, technical gradients as it is when sprinting for the line. For this reason, it’s described as a ‘unicorn wheel’ by testers. Why? Because that’s what it is.

The Win Tunnel and Computational Fluid Dynamics decided the rim shape of the CLX 50’s, ensuring every aspect was ready to cut through the wind like a hot knife through butter. Roval even tested specific tyres to find out what performed best - and a 26mm Specialized S-Works Turbo tyre inflated to 100psi actually provided incremental gains over long distances.

Where the Roval CLX 50 truly sets itself apart is what it offers in windier conditions. By moving the wind’s centre of pressure behind the steering axis, gustier winds can’t turn your handlebars - making your ride more predictable and less dangerous.

DT Swiss Aerolite spokes with DT Swiss alloy Pro-lock nipples enhance strength and responsiveness but also keeps weight to a minimum. By enhancing torsional rigidity, you can sprint more explosively without wheel flex, which in turn allows you to move faster and save energy. Roval AF1 hubs with CeramicSpeed bearings keep everything turning smoothly over a wide range of surfaces, and the durability is outstanding, too.
