Specialized's Diverge STR Pro Gravel Bike is a mouthwatering prospect for any serious gravel rider, with speed and comfort in equal measure.

Made from FACT 11r carbon, the striking frame has a very clever rear Future Shock built into the top tube that effectively allows the seat tube to move independently of the rest of the frame. This gives up to 30mm of suspension for the rider when seated without any compromise to the bike’s stiffness and efficiency of power transfer. When combined with the front’s 20mm Future Shock headset design, it very effectively isolates the rider from bumps, irregularities in the trail and fatiguing vibrations, giving better control, less tiredness and more traction. Both front and rear systems have hydraulic damping and on-the-fly adjustment whilst the rear shock is also tuneable for rider weight, height and style.

Elsewhere, the frame features Specialized’s SWAT internal downtube storage for tools and spares with luggage mounts on the frame and fork for long-distance adventurers. Tyre clearance is good, with space for 700c x 47mm or 650b x 2.1”, giving plenty of potential to build up a very capable and versatile machine for taking on any trail.

The 700c Roval Terra CL wheels with DT Swiss hubs are also very versatile, with the ability to work with tyres from 28c to 42c, depending on terrain. They are hooked and tubeless-ready too, so offer great compatibility for maximum choice. The freehub uses DT Swiss’ 36t ratchet system for very quick engagement and excellent reliability; perfect for rough trails and technical climbs.

Fully wireless and incredibly simple to use, the SRAM Force / X01 eTap AXS drivetrain is quick and accurate to use. There are no cables to stretch and degrade performance so every quick press of the large paddles calls up the next required ratio on the wide-range cassette almost instantly. The system can be paired using Bluetooth with a smartphone or compatible GPS device to show extra data, battery information and even access customisation options.

An S-Works Carbon seatpost, Roval Terra carbon handlebar and Body Geometry Power Pro saddle with hollow titanium rails finish the spec list off in an appropriate style.
