Specialized have been setting the bench mark for affordable carbon fibre bikes for years now, and the Specialized Tarmac Sport Road Bike 2016 is another perfect example of exactly why this is. This years Tarmac Sport is lightweight, packed with the latest componentary and race proven features. The FSA Gossamer BB30 crankset paired with the Shimano 105 5800 11-speed groupset makes this a rather special bike.

FACT 9r carbon has been used in the frame construction to make the frameset stiffer than it’s predecessor.

All these features give the rider a good balance between a comfortable and aggressive ride, so that this bike is equally ready for your first foray into racing, or for taking chunks of your sportive times.

The FSA Gossamer BB30 crankset adds to this bike's stunning looks and provides a smooth and resistance free spinning action.

Solid, well performing AXIS 2.0 wheels add reliability. They are light, responsive and look rapid paired with the upgraded S-Works Turbo 120TPI tyres. These tyres are widened to 24 millimetres in width, offering a better balance between comfort, grip and speed.

Shimano have pulled all the stops out with their 11-speed 105 mechanical groupset. This state of the art system, provides effortless shifting with pin-point accuracy.

Braking is catered for with responsive, powerful AXIS 2.0 brakes, which are another upgrade for this year. Comfort is found with the Specialized range of anatomically designed handlebars, stem and FACT carbon seatpost. You are sure to sit in comfort with the supportive Specialized Body Geometry Toupé Comp Gel Saddle that is also incredibly lightweight.

A bike for the climbs and descents, with an 11/28 cassette leaving you with plenty of gearing options for whether you are racing, completing a sportive or riding to the café. The only difficult decision is if you want to jump out from the crowd with the gloss monster green, rocket red and tarmac black colour scheme, or subtly sneak by your opponents on the satin carbon, white and red option.
