Thanks to its 250 watt motor and long-lasting battery, the Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH Step-Through Electric Hybrid Bike helps riders battle the city commute, triumph in challenging training programs and explore deeper into the wilderness during mixed-terrain adventures. Integrated controllers in the motor sense the rider’s pedalling pattern and provide assistance up to a maximum speed of 15.5 mph / 25 km/h, and these combine with the Internal Gear Hub (IGH) that changes gear automatically in line with preset cadence preferences to ensure that any topography is conquered in a fluid and efficient fashion.

The motor’s power can be altered mid-ride by the MasterMind controller mounted conveniently on the handlebar. This unit doubles as a display for important ride metrics and can be wirelessly connected to the Mission Control app to fine-tune the motor, make software updates and turn on the Turbo Lock anti-theft system. Additionally, a Garmin Radar unit is linked into the MasterMind configuration to warn riders of traffic approaching from behind.

The motor and battery are securely housed within the frame, giving a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. The frame’s sophisticated design joins forces with the plush Rockshox suspension fork, the suspension seatpost and voluminous tyres to guarantee exceptional comfort, while the step-through geometry makes getting on and off the bike in a hurry easy and safe. Robust wheels slash maintenance time, and powerful hydraulic disc brakes perform the stopping duties with aplomb, no matter the weather conditions. The build is completed with mudguards to combat rainy days and front and rear lights to keep the rider safe after sundown.
