Trek Crockett 5 Disc Cyclocross Bike 2016
Trek have focussed on speed and comfort with the Trek Crockett 5 Disc Cyclocross Bike 2016. The American company's aim is to produce the best cyclocross bikes at every level, so that you can win come race day. This Crockett manages to combine speed, stability and comfort in a lightweight package, so that even when you are off it and running it will ensure you have the edge over the opposition.
Trek have worked extensively with their professional riders, to give you a race ready machine with the CX geometry produced in Trek's excellent 200 Series Alpha Aluminium.
The carbon fibre forks are designed to offer a large tyre clearance allowing you to ride a multitude of different tyre sizes. Most impressive though, they feature the IsoSpeed technology that provides the legendary levels of comfort you can expect from a Trek. The ride-tuned fork rake and carefully selected dropout placement increases compliance without the loss of stiffness.
Also catered for are mudguards, thanks to the vanishing mudguard mounts that make this a tough commuter steed or winter training bike. Pin a number on to your jersey and the Crockett becomes a focused cyclocross racer.
Whatever you decide to do with this machine, you will be glad of the dependable all weather powerful braking performance that comes from the Avid BB5 mechanical discs. These are neatly post mounted to save weight. This also allows for an easy upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes, for even more power and modulation. The 15 millimetre through axle means this cyclocross bike is ready for the increased forces, but still allows for lightening quick wheel changes.
It is also brilliant to see that this years model has stepped up to 11-speed, with superb Shimano 105 5800 components. This is finished off with Bontrager Race and Elite components, for added comfort and a lightweight setup, as well as Bontrager wheels that offer bulletproof reliability, roll incredibly well and are lightweight.
