Trek Domane 5.2 Road Bike 2016
The Trek Domane 5.2 Road Bike 2016 is a real cause for excitement as Trek have somehow managed to improve on last year's already incredible model. Now you are getting a lighter, faster and smoother road bike than ever before.
Trek have worked extensively with their professional riders, to give you a race ready machine with the Domane being seen supporting the professionals through the roughest terrain in the calendar. Incorporated into this though is Trek's exceptional H2 geometry. This gives you a slightly taller head tube to allow for a more comfortable back position to provide comfort no matter how long your ride. You do not lose the excellent balance or stability with this being one of the best handling bikes around.
Further comfort and stability comes from the IsoSpeed technology in the frame that allows the seat tube to rotate independently from the top-tube-to-seat stay junction, increasing vertical compliance to twice that of the nearest competitor, without compromising pedalling efficiency. The IsoSpeed fork has a generous ride-tuned sweep with the shape increasing compliance for a smoother ride, and unique dropout placement optimising the wheelbase while an extra curve above the dropout in the swept-leg design creates a smaller angle to the direction of road vibrations. This angle increases fore/aft compliance, better positioning the fork leg to absorb road force rather than transmitting it straight to the rider. The fork lateral stiffness has also been increased maximising both smoothness and control. Both aspects resulting in a bike that you can ride faster for longer.
Power Transfer Construction ensures you get the most out of every pedal stroke by optimising the head tube, down tube, bottom bracket and rear wheel connection. The Domane 5.2 Road Bike 2016 features an E2 head tube which tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing, and is wider side to side than front to back. This asymmetric steering system minimises weight while maximising power transfer and keeping the fork stiffer under cornering loads. Resulting in a more powerful and confident ride.
Also featured on the Domane 5.2 is a 3S integrated chain keeper integrated directly into the bike frame. It's an elegant solution that provides flawless gear shifting even on rough roads and under heavy loads. No more standing on the side of the road, covered in grease, unwedging your dropped chain as competitors race by.
The Trek-exclusive carbon BB90 bottom bracket makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate. While discreet vanishing mudguard accommodate full-coverage mudguards for added utility and DuoTrap compatibility sees the end of cable ties allowing you to seamlessly integrate a computer sensor into the frame to measure speed, distance, and cadence with no added aerodynamic drag. It works with all the major ANT wireless technology players, including Bontrager, Garmin, PowerTap, and SRM.
Also catered for are mudguards thanks to the vanishing mudguard mounts that make this a tough commuter steed or winter training bike.
Another exciting feature is the IsoSpeed technology that allows you to take on any terrain. To accomplish this in comfort, Trek have designed the seat tube to be able to rotate separately from the top-tube-to-seatstay junction to give you vertical compliance at twice the level of any other bike. This translates to being able to ride flat out for more time than anyone else. Comfort is further enhanced by the No-cut Ride Tuned seatmast to keep you in top form.
It is also brilliant to see that this years model incorporates the full Ultegra eleven speed groupset, with none of the usual compromises on brake callipers or cranksets. This is finished off with Bontrager Race components, for added comfort and a lightweight setup as well as Bontrager wheels that offer bulletproof reliability, roll incredibly well and are lightweight.
