Trek Domane RSL Disc Frameset Gen 4
The pro-spec Domane RSL Disc Frameset Gen 4 from Trek is aimed at riders who want to top the podium at fearsome races such as Paris-Roubaix as well as mortals who like to ride fast and hard whatever the road surface.
Compared to the standard SLR this Race Shop Limited version of the Domane frameset drops about 100 grams and gains clearance to run chainrings with up to 54 teeth (by sacrificing a small amount of tyre clearance). As befits a race-orientated design, it also loses the top tube mounts, in-frame storage and mudguard mounts but benefits from a more aggressive geometry that will suit those concentrating on maximum speed.
Trek’s road-smoothing IsoSpeed system is still in place though to tame cobblestones and rough tarmac for all-day performance, with the seatpost, saddle and rider effectively isolated from the rest of the frame for comfort without any loss of efficiency. Kammtail tube shapes help ease the bike through the air at race-pace whilst keeping the frameset impressively light.
