The key to its versatility is the Gen 4 frame. Made from 800 Series OCLV Carbon it is light and stiff where necessary with improved Kammtail tubing for better aerodynamics, yet Trek’s IsoSpeed concept provides cossetting comfort on rough roads and lanes. It greatly reduces fatigue and discomfort caused by poor surfaces, making the bike quicker for longer. The bike’s geometry also reflects its performance-comfort aims, with figures that are ideal for long endurance style rides without blunting its speed on shorter loops.

Clearance for tyres up to 38mm offers the opportunity to fit some wide rubber and venture off the tarmac onto traffic-free trails whilst the integrated mudguard mounts make it a viable year-round option. The frame also includes Trek’s internal down tube storage that is hidden beneath the bottle cage, and with space for a few tools and an inner tube, it keeps the weight low down and out of jersey pockets.
