The Trek Speed Concept 7.5 Triathlon Bike 2016's incredibly fast frame is formed with a Kammtail Virtual Foil (KVF) design which is the most aerodynamic tube shape ever designed for a bicycle. For the 2016 model, Trek have made KVF even more aerodynamic by reducing the frontal area of the bike and reducing drag at all yaw angles.

Drag reduction has also been optimised in the full-foil fork. The 6:1 shape of the fork was the fastest in real-world testing with optimised yaw angles that help to reduce turbulence. This wind-cheating is continued in the integrated handlebar, which has been combined with the fork for a sleek and low drag profile.

Both the front and rear brakes are shielded from the wind by being hidden behind the fork and under the chainstay, while the inclusion of the Speed Fin under the bottom bracket boosts rear-wheel braking and cheats the wind as an aero rear-wheel fairing. Fully integrated cable routing with a proprietary seat post battery mount allows for smooth and hassle-free upgrading to an electronic system.

The gearing is handled with Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra system with a semi-compact crankset and Dura-Ace bar-end controls. This means that you will always be able to find the right gear to keep your pedalling smooth and efficient. Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels ensure fast and aero rolling as well as a confidence-inspiring braking surface so you can take corners at an optimal speed.

Being comfortable in a time trail (TT) or triathlon is of the utmost importance so along with the ergonomic cockpit, the supportive Bontrager Hilo RXL is a welcome addition. With a central relief channel and a short drop away nose, this saddle reduces the threat of pressure build up and chafing on your delicate areas so you can really concentrate on putting the power down.
